Endurance running clears the lungs. How to clear your lungs before running

For all its simplicity, running is a great workout.

Regular exercise has a positive effect on the work of the heart and blood vessels. They stimulate metabolic processes.

Finally, thanks to them, the respiratory system gets used to functioning in an efficient, economical mode.

How does running affect the lungs and other organs?

We run not only with our feet, but also with our lungs, which are required to intensively provide the body with oxygen.

A person of average age and weight at rest needs approximately 150-200 milliliters of oxygen per minute. Most of it enters through the lungs.

While jogging at a speed of 5-6 kilometers per hour, the body already needs 1-1.5 liters of vital gas every minute. At the same time, about 40 liters of air are pumped through the trachea and bronchi. Such a significant increase in "productivity" just provides the training effect. Systematic loads increase the functional potential of the entire respiratory system.

Deep but infrequent breathing while running increases not only vital capacity, but also the ventilation capacity of the lungs (which, in turn, ensures their normal purification).

Let's note one more important point. The runner's body receives significant doses of useful ions (charged particles) from the air. This occurs as a result of active gas exchange through the mucous membrane of the mouth, nasopharynx, trachea, alveoli and through the skin.

Free ions help a person feel alert. Their beneficial effect has long been noted by scientists - just remember Chizhevsky's chandelier, which increases the concentration of ions in the air, creating a similar effect.

Additional training of the respiratory system

If desired, the athlete can replace the sprint with hypoxic ones - i.e. with breath holding - training.

Artificially created oxygen starvation will force the muscles of the body to work with full dedication, increases the number of open capillaries that are needed to supply O2.

As a result of such activities, the athlete's heart rate decreases - in 8 weeks it drops by 4% at a standard distance.

Hypoxic training is advised to start with approximately the following rhythm: inhale for 6 steps, hold your breath for the next six steps, exhale for the next six steps.

But - attention! - It is better not to do such things for a beginner.

For enhanced training of the respiratory system in the middle of a workout, it is permissible to read a couple of verses of a song or quatrains of a poem - whichever you prefer. You should recite clearly, as in a reading competition.

P.S. Large loads on certain organs are normal only for perfectly healthy people. If you suffer from asthma, varicose veins veins, flat feet and others, choose another type of fitness for yourself.

There is an opinion that a person runs not so much with his feet as with his lungs and heart. And this is absolutely fair. To provide the body's need for oxygen, the heart and lungs have to significantly increase their work. After all, if at rest a middle-aged person needs 150-200 milliliters of oxygen per minute (while only 4-5 liters of air is ventilated through the lungs), then while running at the most moderate speed - 5-6 kilometers per hour - the body's need for oxygen increases to 1-1.5 liters per minute. And the lungs have to pass through themselves no less than 40 (!) Liters of air per minute.

“The heart while running at a low speed pumps 10-14 liters of blood per minute, which is more than 3 times more than at rest. This energetic blood circulation is largely facilitated by the actively working muscle pump during running. By contracting, the muscles of the legs, as it were, squeeze venous blood out of the capillaries, thereby facilitating the flow of oxygen-enriched arterial blood, says Professor R.E. Motylyanskaya.

Regular training loads on the heart and lungs ultimately lead to a significant improvement in their functionality. More rare and deeper breathing contributes to an increase in the vital capacity of the lungs and their ventilation capacity. A slow heart rate at rest, an increase in its systological volume - this is the result of regular jogging. It is no coincidence that running is used as an effective means of improving overall physical fitness in a variety of sports.

Running significantly stimulates the work of other body systems, in particular the endocrine system, activates all types of metabolism, including fat. In those who systematically go in for running, the content of cholesterol in the blood decreases, which is of no small importance in prevention. hypertension, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, stroke.

Running is easy to dose in terms of intensity and duration. And because it is available even to children of preschool, primary and secondary school age. It is useful for teenagers, boys and girls. Running is one of the most effective means maintaining health and those who have already crossed the threshold of maturity. Long-term jogging contributes to the long-term preservation of high performance, pushes back aging. It supports enough high level muscle strength, vital capacity of the lungs, joint mobility is maintained.

If you conduct appropriate training, correctly, depending on the age and functional capabilities of the body, dose the load, running will become one of the most beneficial species physical education for people over 25-30 years old. Of course, in the absence of contraindications.

Contraindications for running are as follows. Running is not allowed for those who suffer from:

  • pulmonary heart failure (II-III degree)
  • bronchial asthma (with frequent attacks)
  • chronic bronchitis with asthmatic component (with frequent attacks)
  • severe myocardial insufficiency
  • angina pectoris with frequent attacks
  • hypertension with frequent crises, as well as with persistent blood pressure 220/110 millimeters of mercury and above
  • diabetes mellitus (moderate and severe forms with complications)
  • obesity with symptoms of heart failure
  • glaucoma
  • malignant neoplasms
  • organic disorders of the central nervous system
  • osteochondrosis of the spine with frequent exacerbations of radicular sciatica
  • spondylarthrosis
  • diseases of the musculoskeletal system with a progressive course
  • dysfunctions of the joints (with persistent pain syndrome)
  • frequent bouts of gallstone and kidney stones
  • aortic and cardiac aneurysms
  • thrombophlebitis
  • complex cardiac arrhythmias
  • complete blockade of the left bundle branch of Hiss
  • congenital or acquired heart defects

Training should be stopped in the acute period of any disease, as well as during an exacerbation of chronic ailments.

People who have had a myocardial infarction, a stroke, can run only after a thorough medical examination and under the constant supervision of a doctor, but not earlier than 2-5 years after the disease (depending on its severity).

Individually, in each case, the doctor decides whether women over 54 and men over 60 can run.

But even if a person is practically healthy, he should not forget that before starting training, you should get the permission of a doctor. Jogging will only be beneficial if it is not carried out independently, but according to a certain system and, which is very important, regularly.

When smoking, the main object of damage to the components of tobacco smoke are the lungs. Before those who got rid of this bad habit, a new problem arises: how to clear the lungs after smoking. Restoring their functions, clearing all respiratory tract from resins, toxins - a long process. After quitting smoking, there is a difficult period for every person.

With the exclusion of the intake of tobacco combustion products into the body, which is accustomed to them, a state of stress and emotional instability arises. It is recommended to use valerian, lemon balm, motherwort to relieve stress. It is better to avoid places where people who smoke are present. The process of addiction starts again in the body, and it will be difficult to get rid of it.

Important! The only way to clear your lungs is to quit smoking completely. Having started the lung cleansing procedure, in no case should you smoke again, even one cigarette.

Why the lungs need to be cleansed

With the help of the movement of the cilia of the epithelium of the respiratory tract, special mucus is produced - important component cleaning. It collects solid particles, dust, bacteria that are harmful to the body, and removes from the body. With the discharge of mucus, these substances are removed. But with cigarette smoke, resins enter the system, which cause the cilia to stick together. The viscosity of sputum increases, the discharge is difficult. Due to a violation of gas exchange, the blood is not sufficiently saturated with oxygen.

It is very difficult to cleanse the lungs on your own. A complex of procedures is required, up to the application medications, and a considerable period of time for detoxification (removal of toxins from the body).

The average time for clearing the lungs from intoxication

The answer to the question of how long the lungs will clear if you quit smoking is individual for everyone. It depends on the experience of the smoker, the volume of nicotine entering the lungs daily, and the lifestyle in general. This period varies from 3 months to one year. During this time, if you completely stop smoking, the airways are cleared. The activity of the cilia of the epithelium of the lungs, purified from toxic substances, is restored.

Due to the harmful effects of tar and nicotine over many years, the effect does not occur immediately. Coughing fits with sputum production may continue long time. It is especially important to increase immunity for the independent struggle of the body and the use of all possible means for this. For those who are interested in how to clear the lungs after smoking a hookah, the same methods and means are suitable.

Conditions and actions that contribute to the purification of the lungs

In order to effectively cleanse the lungs, it is necessary to observe certain conditions and use all possible methods for this. An integrated approach will provide a positive result.

List of the most important conditions:

  • desire, psychological attitude, a clear goal and willpower;
  • obligatory exclusion of smoking, even "passive";
  • the use of herbal infusions and other folk remedies;
  • rational nutrition and hygiene;
  • physical activity;
  • breathing exercises;
  • use of the positive effects of baths, saunas;
  • cleaning by inhalation;
  • drug therapy.

Everything in the body is interconnected. Therefore, it is necessary to use not one tool or technique, but a whole range of measures. In addition to the use of drugs, you need to know how to clean the respiratory tract at home. With an integrated approach to solving the problem, you can achieve the greatest efficiency.

Use of some herbal infusions

Consider in the table effective ways purification.

Let cool to room temperature or slightly above.Drink the decoction immediately (when using 1 cup of oats). Grind the remaining gruel and eat during the day before meals.Course - 2 monthsAlready after 7 days, the cough intensifies, contributing to the discharge of sputum
Onion (onion syrup)Cut a large onion, cover with sugar, place in a dark place. Express the syrup, dividing by 4 timesDrink one serving of syrupOnce a weekThe action is slow, gradual

Cleaning with herbs can be done by self-selection or you can purchase a ready-made lung collection at a pharmacy, using it according to the instructions.

Rational nutrition and hygiene

The diet is important for the normalization of the functions of the lungs and all organs of the respiratory system.

  1. Water. It is necessary to use it in large quantities (up to 2 liters per day) to flush out harmful substances and poisons.
  2. Green tea. Drinking it at night also cleanses the body, makes breathing easier, being a good antioxidant.
  3. Red wine improves blood composition, is an effective tool in the prevention of lung cancer.
  4. Milk. It contains proteins, minerals and amino acids, which is useful for cleansing, including the respiratory tract, from toxic substances.
  5. Pineapples. Bromelain in their composition helps to normalize cholesterol, get rid of toxins, cleanse the lungs. They have an anti-inflammatory effect, have a calming effect on the nervous system.
  6. Apples. Daily use is recommended. Contribute to the normalization of the functions of most internal organs due to the content of ascorbic acid and iron.
  7. Garlic. It should be eaten daily, adding to food or separately. Thanks to allicin in its composition, it helps to thin the mucus with disinfection and disinfection. Strengthens and helps cleanse the body as a whole.

The use of most fruits and vegetables, cereals, legumes, berries, citrus fruits is recommended. Selenium, found in many types of fish and cereals, is another antioxidant that aids in the release of toxins. It is necessary to regularly ventilate the rooms, humidify the air, maintain cleanliness.

Important! Pay special attention to the condition of the air in the room, its purity, temperature (20 ° C), humidity (more than 25%, optimally - 50-70%).

Physical activity

Gymnastics, swimming, cycling, fitness, running - such loads are especially important in the first month when the body is under stress. They train the heart muscle, promote gas exchange, normalize the functions of the ciliated epithelium. They have a general strengthening effect.

Respiratory gymnastics

The respiratory organs must be provided with work so that, being cleansed, they improve and develop. Deep breathing increases blood flow. Breathing exercises according to the yoga system are recommended. It helps not only to clear the lungs, but also to avoid mental stress, colds.

A visit to the bath for complex cleansing

Jets of hot air have a positive effect on blood circulation, expand the bronchi, thin the sputum. Using the effect of a bath or sauna contributes to healing in general. They must be visited weekly for two months, following the rules for visiting the steam room. After bath procedures use herbal infusions. But you definitely need to consult a doctor, since the bath is not for everyone.

Inhalations

Aerosol use medicinal substances through inhalation promotes the expansion of the bronchi with liquefaction of sputum. Inhalations are important for bronchitis, which is present in almost all smokers. They also help in cleansing the lungs, poisoned by nicotine. At the same time, the functions of the cilia of the epithelium are restored, harmful substances that pollute particles are removed.

The use of special nebulizers, inhalers is practiced. As components of inhalation are used medicinal herbs(for example, the collection of cedar, fir and juniper), salt, essential oils, mineral water(for example, "Borjomi"). Inhalations are carried out for 2 weeks for 10-15 minutes a day.

Use of medications

In addition to natural methods of detoxification, it is often necessary to use medications that help thin and release secretions and fight inflammation. Among them are such drugs: Ambroxol, Ambrobene, Gedelix, Lazolvan, Ambrosan, Flavamed, ACC, vitamin complexes ointments with menthol. It is important to consult a doctor.

Important! When cleaning the lungs, it is necessary to take into account diseases of other organs. It is necessary to find out all contraindications from the attending physician.

Signals of the beginning of the process of purification from the effects of smoking

The process of cleansing the lungs does not take place in one day or even in a month. But the fact that it has begun is signaled by certain symptoms. They help to understand that efforts are not in vain, the body reacts to them. The signals might look something like this:

  • regular cough;
  • sputum discharge (removal of toxic substances from the lungs and bronchi);
  • gradual relief of breathing, reduction of cough;
  • increase in exercise tolerance, decrease in shortness of breath;
  • improved appetite and general well-being;
  • mood swings (there is a stress syndrome).

The presence of these signals should not be scary. These are symptoms of the cleansing processes. For psychological comfort, it is necessary to use walks, gymnastics, if necessary, take antidepressants on the advice of a doctor.

The answer to the question of whether and how to clean the lungs after many years of smoking is unequivocal. It is possible and necessary to completely restore the epithelium of the respiratory tract. An organism contaminated with toxins and poisons needs time to recover. When you stop smoking for a long time, the body is in a state of stress. When cleaning the lungs, it is necessary to get rid of it in parallel. A person often puts on weight due to replacing cigarettes with extra food. Often there is a decrease in immunity. It will take patience, willpower, determination.

Bego helps to get rid of nicotine.

I run in the morning, but at the same time, I smoke.

03.01.2009, 14:45

What are you so excited about? Sit down, calm down, ... smoke: smoke:

03.01.2009, 14:46

Doktors, well, well :) Of course, the first thing I googled, but there are really a lot of tips, so I thought maybe someone would advise something from their experience.

Konstantinovich, I also run in the mornings, 3-4 times a week, but now I really stopped, because it’s cold ... to be honest, I didn’t notice how running affects the quality of the lungs, except that ventilation increases temporarily, although I don’t know for sure.

03.01.2009, 14:49

03.01.2009, 14:54

What are you so excited about? Sit down, calm down, ... smoke
:bl:
the lungs will clear themselves, without any action on your part.
Dmytro, here's a tip. It remains the case for small - do not smoke! :)

03.01.2009, 14:54

03.01.2009, 14:57

That's how it is, but I want to somehow speed up this process, is it possible?

03.01.2009, 14:59

the lungs will clear themselves, without any action on your part.
From a school textbook I remember saying that after "quitting smoking" the lungs will be like new in 5 years. And you can speed up the "queen of sports."

03.01.2009, 15:01

03.01.2009, 15:09

what for?
Well, at least because there is nothing good in carrying in yourself such an amount of filth that has accumulated there over the years. And also because he got excited about the idea to get the 1st category in boxing at the next competition:cool:

Seoshik, I perform such a normal complex (for 20-25 minutes) almost every day, unfortunately there is no way to do it on fresh air, but I think it's better that way - in a dusty apartment than nothing at all.

P.s. I have heard for a long time that if you drink a lot of milk, your lungs are cleansed, is this really true or a myth?

03.01.2009, 15:15

Horizontal bar, parallel bars, a couple of exercises a week and you will be happy.
Have you tried cleaning it yourself? ....

I quit smoking 3 years ago .. also because of sports .. I worked out with friends, well, before the main workout, I had a mini run for 8 km. so, I had to quit because my breath could not stand it ... running long distances helps the most .. then it comes out of the lungs like that ... that thoughts about smoking immediately disappear ...))

03.01.2009, 15:20

Advice from personal experience.

You need to start with jogging. When to run and how much - it does not really matter.

The main thing is regularity!

It is best to run over rough terrain - a forest, a park, a wasteland. But not at the stadium and not along the city streets.

You need to run in any weather - in the rain and in the cold.

Breathe while running approximately according to the following pattern - triple inhalation, triple exhalation (if it doesn’t work out - double or single, over time your lungs will get used to it and you will do 4 or even 5 breaths / exhalations).

It is best to run without any scheme, always along a different route - this is much more interesting.

When you first start, don't push yourself too hard - run slowly until you feel short of breath. In this case, do not stop, but simply take a slow step, do a dozen deep breathing exercises.

Walk slowly - rest - and jog again.

After a couple of months, you will start running well and without breathing - you will run 2-3 kilometers with pleasure. Then you can move on to the next stage - jogging, but with a different rhythm, sometimes with acceleration. While running - shouting and singing songs - it strengthens the respiratory system very well.

Run like this for half a year - and you yourself will understand where to move on.

But the main thing is practice. You have to run DAILY. You can not even ask to smoke - the main thing is to run, and the cigarettes will go away by themselves.

So there is nothing more to look forward to. Turn off your computer and go for a run! :)

03.01.2009, 15:20

I don’t know if I wrote in the right section, but oh well. I quit smoking from the 1st, not that smoking bothered me much, but I wanted sports achievements, which, due to smoking, were very difficult to achieve, yes: gm: In general, such things, I'm waiting for advice ... :rolleyes:
ps I don't know if it matters: I smoked for 8 years.

I remember when I gave it up after 5-7 days, a terrible cough with sputum began. As they say - it comes out all the muck out of the lungs.

And running hardly helps (at least it didn’t help me. I ran 5 km daily).

03.01.2009, 15:26

8 km mini run.
8 kilometers. - mini? Well you are strong! :D Now, despite the fact that I lead a fairly active lifestyle (training + exercise + running, temporarily absent), more than 5 km. can't stand it :o

Borshak, it’s more expensive for me to run across rough terrain, I’d rather breathe gases at the stadium than run from local dogs - the incentive to accelerate, of course, is excellent, but ... :)

03.01.2009, 15:30

That's how it is, but I want to somehow speed up this process, is it possible?

If you need to clear the lungs by the accelerated method, then you should run a lot, quickly, with constant accelerations, with weights; when running, talk loudly, shout and sing. In addition, you must constantly do intense breathing exercises - for example - 10 deepest breaths and 10 of the same exhalations. Or inflate cameras from beacons. Or something like that.

However, this is an inflection, and the result will be appropriate. Rapid cleansing and strengthening, which can lead to chronic disease. (In the same way as the desire to get 1 rank in boxing in a year, especially if you have never done it.)

So it is better to slowly but SURELY.

03.01.2009, 15:33

Dmytro, there is not enough smiley ..:).. in fact, they didn’t gradually gain a distance, but immediately ran to wear and tear .. at the beginning I only kept half the distance .. :) maybe that’s why I quit smoking - I thought that I couldn’t stand it because of cigarettes. .:) - although after he quit for half a year he began to run normally ...

03.01.2009, 15:40

borshak, I have been training for a little less than half a year, + sparring with friends on weekends, when possible, and 1st category is not some kind of unattainable bar, in principle it is not a problem to get it, and I need it purely for myself - what, they say, I’m not doing some kind of abstract boxing, but I’ve already achieved something. As for running: as soon as it gets a little warmer, I will resume running, even without such motives this is a useful thing.

Konstantinovich

03.01.2009, 15:51

And running hardly helps (at least it didn’t help me. I ran 5 km daily).
For example, it helps me a lot. No diseases in spring and autumn. It was earlier. Spit on all sorts of elevations on foot to 12 floors ...

But there are some drugs that remove sputum from the lungs (drank with bronchitis). I wonder if they help?
There are cheap pills. Even less than before the pennies were. Great for getting rid of mucus. It doesn't matter which one. They are called simply "Cough". Our standard costs 1 ruble :) They are made from herbs, they help a lot, there are no foreign syrups there and similar dregs will not help. This is excellent inexpensive remedy. I advise.

P.S. I have nothing to do with pharma

03.01.2009, 16:15

From a school textbook I remember saying that after "quitting smoking" the lungs will be like new in 5 years. And you can speed up the "queen of sports."

Fooled in school textbooks. I quit smoking in January 2001 after six years of smoking. Since then, not a single puff: no tobacco, no ganjubas, no hookah, I haven’t smoked anything at all.

All this time I regularly visit the pool, run - my lungs are still dirty, I ask the doctor to show me a picture on the monitor at every fluorography session. Than to clear finally - I do not know.

03.01.2009, 16:23

03.01.2009, 16:31

Can you at least approximately estimate how much, in percentage terms, your lungs have cleared? Wikipedia writes that there is still such a muck as emphysema of the lung tissue, that is, irreversible damage: o, I don’t even want to think about it.

So how do you rate it? When he quit, he lived in another city, they did fluorography there in the old fashioned way on film. Then he moved to Kharkov, the problem of cleaning the lungs somehow didn’t bother me much. In addition, I began to observe digital images only two years ago, out of idle curiosity. During this time, I didn’t notice any special signs of purification ... And the enphysema, well ... Anyway, we all die at some point.

03.01.2009, 17:31

Well, yes ... but can you evaluate it purely subjectively, according to your feelings?

03.01.2009, 19:13

I do not even know.

03.01.2009, 19:20

I quit smoking from the 1st
You haven't quit yet, HA HA HA HA *Devil laugh*

03.01.2009, 20:20

That's when I smoke - I'll dig up this topic, quote you and say "yes, I didn't quit." And at the moment I don't smoke and I'm not going to start smoking, so I quit: rolleyes:

04.01.2009, 01:45

"Drink milk - you will be healthy" :)
Someone told me that it helps to clear the lungs.

04.01.2009, 01:52

Inflate the football bladder three to four times a day. And cough pills, aka mukaltin. Faster way until they figured it out. Anything that can be pulled out will be pulled out.

04.01.2009, 10:48

Three packs of “vatra” without a filter a day - and soon the pathologist will quickly clean everything up ... :) I didn’t get it at all, what kind of question? Do we have doctors on the forum or something like that? Quit smoking, run in the morning and everything will be ok - it's elementary...

04.01.2009, 16:29

Three packs of "vatra" without a filter per day
Then "Shipka" is better :)

04.01.2009, 16:56

They came up with: mukaltin, breathe, do not breathe, jogging.
Just don't smoke!

06.01.2009, 17:29

But the main thing is practice. You have to run DAILY.
Strongly disagree. The heart is not iron. Only professional athletes can run every day. And even then, they have 1-2 relatively easy days a week. Although, depending on what you mean by running. If running is 15 minutes of jogging, then you can do it every day. If jogging 6-10 km over rough terrain, then 3-4 times a week is better.

19.01.2009, 02:34

if you want to clean your lungs from nicotine, drink plenty of milk and eat foods rich in vitamin C.

19.01.2009, 02:37

Everyone can run, but not everyone is equally useful, and even harmful.

3-4 times a week for 6-10 km? Why give advice that is harmful to life? People with heart disease should generally sign for sports in stages with the supervision of a doctor at each stage.

And most importantly - do not ask questions about medicine on the forum. There are always those who sincerely want to help, but do not have special medical skills.

19.01.2009, 02:40

p.s. I have heard for a long time that if you drink a lot of milk, your lungs are cleansed, is this really true or a myth?

Myth. The ugliness doesn't get any smaller. Because of the milk, something (I don’t remember exactly what) brightens, so the lungs seem clean on X-ray.

28.01.2009, 23:19

The pool helps me a lot, but everyone has their own method =)

30.01.2009, 01:00

Looking what pills. If with thermopsis - on the contrary, the cough is suppressed and no sputum will come out - everything will remain safely in the lungs. Need expectorant herbal preparations. Herbion, for example. They thin the sputum and contribute to its discharge - you will safely cough and everything will come out. But even if nothing is taken, in a couple of years the lungs will be as good as new.

30.01.2009, 01:15

Ordinary herbal tea "collection No. 4". Sold in pharmacies everywhere, specially designed for expectoration ...
After four days of drinking this tea, I have such a "grub" gone, it's scary to look! But it's easier to breathe...

Cyclic sports will help you, the most effective for you is running (on a pulse of up to 155-160 with periodic remote switching up to 180 (for 20-25 seconds every km)) , in winter run skiing, it would be nice to go to the pool! Of course, the most important thing is running, you will see for yourself how mucus will stand out - these are organic compounds along with all sorts of sewage from tobacco!

Forget about hunger strikes, vegetable purees and rinsing the body with water. If you dream of an effective detoxification of the body, start run and the body will sort itself out.

As soon as the spring sun begins to caress the first rays, people immediately have a desire to cleanse their body. It is well known that physical exercise helps to get the body in shape, but their beneficial effects are not quite what they think. For years we have been fed the belief that certain yoga positions had a cleansing effect, and by squeezing out sweat during aerobics, combined with juice consumption, we help the body get rid of toxic waste. According to scientists, all these theories seem to have descended from the pages of fairy tales. However, the scientific world itself from time to time conducts research, the results of which should encourage more and more people to engage in physical education. For example, strength exercises lead to regeneration at the cellular level, which leads to new energy resources and improves immunity.

The body is able to cleanse itself of "garbage" with the help of the so-called autophagy. This term comes from the Greek "self-digestion" and is based on the fact that cells carry away unnecessary material, such as bacteria, viruses, cell membrane remnants, damaged protein particles, and all this is burned, turning into energy. Some scientists believe that impaired autophagy leads to a number of diseases, including diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's disease. They also noted that as a person ages, the cellular ability to remove all kinds of waste begins to weaken. Meanwhile Beth Levin, a professor of microbiology at the University of Texas, has shown that regular exercise can speed up the rate at which a cell removes waste material, which has a huge impact on the whole organism.

To prove the connection between exercise and internal cleansing, Beth made several mice run around in the drum. After 30 minutes of training, significantly more cell membranes were found in the cells of these animals, which confirmed that the process of autophagy was accelerated in them. The second group of mice was genetically programmed to physical activity the process of autophagy did not occur in them at all. In other words, no matter how much effort the animals put in to set the drum in motion, there was no cellular renewal. Because of this, they were less hardy, tired faster. All rodents were fed a diet high in fat, which should have resulted in diabetes. Only those mice that exercised regularly were able to withstand the negative effects malnutrition. In animals deprived of the possibility of detoxification, cholesterol levels increased very rapidly.

At the moment, the connection of exercise with cleansing the body has been investigated only in animals, but Professor Levin argues that there is every reason to assume that all this applies to humans.

In his post, Beth explains how 30 minutes of exercise activates autophagy in the brain, which could potentially reduce the effects of aging-related memory loss and also protect brain cells from the effects of degenerative diseases. The professor is now investigating the mechanisms by which exercise-stimulated autophagy shifts to a metabolic benefit.

Physical activity can be considered as a method of detoxification for other reasons as well. It is well known to promote DNA repair and keep it in good condition. It helps a person look younger than his age. According to research conducted by Dr. Jim McKenna, a professor at the University of Leeds, cells are physically active people more able to protect DNA from damage.

Fitness until recently hid many myths that related to cleansing. For example, there is no evidence that some yoga positions act like a “brush” on the body, getting rid of any debris. Similarly with breathing: mat exercise enthusiasts are convinced that they can remove carbon dioxide from the lungs in this way and have a beneficial effect on the functioning of internal organs. But one fact is indisputable. It doesn’t matter if a person does yoga, aerobics or dancing, any physical activity has a positive effect on health.

There is also no scientific evidence to suggest that drinking water while exercising speeds up the release of toxins. With all confidence, scientists declare that it is not water that allows you to cleanse the body, the kidneys and intestines are responsible for this. Although the body should be kept in a state of proper hydration, it is not necessary to absorb large amounts of water, which puts an extra burden on the excretory system.

And what about sweating, which everyone appreciates for its cleansing properties? According to the conclusions of all the same scientists, this is not true. Sweat is primarily water with small amounts of electrolytes and salts. A study conducted by toxicologists showed that sweating is responsible for removing less than 1% of harmful substances. Sweating should be viewed as a process of thermoregulation, not detoxification at all.

by the most the best exercise for detoxification, according to Beth Levine, is run. Most studies have shown that the relationship between the removal of harmful substances from cells and exercise on the treadmill is maximum. But if the choice falls on physical aerobic activity in the fresh air, the effectiveness will be much greater.

Five steps to motion cleansing:

1. Start with daily walks. Aerobic exercise is the best way to get healthy, clean cells. To begin with, 10-15 thousand steps daily are enough;

2. Be active. The more intense the type of exercise, the better. Change the route of the walk to a more winding and mountainous one: walking or running on an uneven surface increases the effectiveness of the training by 5%;

3. Run/walk 30 minutes a day.
If you do this two to four times a week, then the chances of making your body cleaner increases significantly. Studies have shown that regular 30-minute runs / walks increase the process of autophagy by 50%;

4. Run 50-80 minutes a week. Experts believe that one long run can stimulate the regeneration of the body and brings more health benefits than short runs;

5. Try your hand at a marathon. The further you run, the more you will stimulate the cells to the process of self-purification. In a study published last year, Belgian researchers followed a small group of runners in a 200K race. Muscle analysis before and after the race showed that long-term effort caused strong autophagy in the body.
