The win-win combination of potatoes and meat, which served as the basis for the casserole, will never disappoint the hostess. Whether the potatoes are raw or boiled is involved in the recipe - it doesn’t matter. The qualifications of a home chef don't matter either. Let's take a closer look at how to prepare it with minced meat. A step-by-step recipe with photographs will help you master the simple dish.

and fried minced meat

First, let's look at the traditional way of preparing this famous dish. It will include mashed potatoes. The taste will remind many of the same casseroles that are usually served in public catering. To prepare a homemade version, take the following ingredients:

  • 1 kg of fresh peeled potatoes for mashing;
  • large onion - 1 piece;
  • minced meat consisting of half pork and beef - 400 g;
  • chicken egg - 1 piece;
  • garlic - 2 cloves;
  • butter - 40 grams;
  • vegetable oil - 4 tbsp. spoons;
  • salt;
  • Bay leaf;
  • ground black pepper to taste.

Preparing puree

In order for the mashed potatoes to cook faster, before putting them in the pan, cut the ingredient into pieces. Immediately add garlic, bay leaf and salt. There is no need to peel the garlic cloves. When the potatoes boil, you need to remove the foam. After the knife, which has entered one of the potatoes without interference, signals us that they are completely ready, turn off the heat and remove the garlic from the pan. They did their job, imparted taste and aroma, and in the future, potato casserole will do without these components.

Let's drain the water from the pan, but not all of it. We will need some of the liquid (about the size of a glass) to make the puree more fluffy. Crush the potatoes and add butter. If desired, the mixture can be lightly beaten with a blender.

Frying minced meat

The casserole with minced meat and potatoes in the oven, the recipe for which we offer you, will not turn out so tasty if the minced meat is not fried. Cut a large onion into half rings and fry in a frying pan until transparent and slightly golden brown. Add the minced meat, salt, pepper and fry only slightly; there is no need to bring it to full readiness. It is enough that the onions are completely fried. The taste of fried onions has never spoiled culinary dishes.

Place ingredients in baking dish

Here we are reaching the finish line. Potato casserole with minced meat, the recipe for which we are mastering, is almost ready to go into the oven. All that remains is to take a baking container, grease it thoroughly with melted butter and place the components in the required sequence. By the way, it's time to turn on the oven. After all, while we are laying the layers of the future casserole, the temperature in the oven should heat up to 180 degrees.

We will place only half of the finished mashed potatoes at the very bottom of the mold, then thoroughly level the mass with a spoon. The next step is to lay out the fried minced meat. The meat layer in our casserole will be in a single copy, so for the first half of the mashed potatoes we put all the minced meat with fried onions into the pan from the frying pan. Then cover the meat mass with the rest of the puree and smooth it out again. In order for the potato casserole with minced meat in the oven to turn out golden brown, spread the beaten egg over the surface of the dish. Now you can use a fork to form beautiful patterns. Most likely, the oven is already languishing, waiting. Place our dish in it until fully cooked for 30 minutes. If the casserole is browned a little earlier, the total cooking time can be reduced.

Potato casserole with minced meat: a quick recipe

How we love to prepare dishes that do not take up our precious time. For those who especially value every minute, we offer another, alternative version of this dish. This time, potato casserole with minced meat in the oven will do without mashed potatoes and pre-frying the ingredients. Place the ingredients on a baking sheet raw. To prepare we will need:

Mix the ingredients and prepare potato chips

Most recipes for making potato casserole with minced meat imply that the housewife already has a ready-made semi-finished meat product on the table. We arm ourselves with a blender, which will speed up the process even more. First, put the minced meat in a bowl, add salt and mix with tomato paste. We also send chopped onion and garlic there and pepper. Mix everything well. Then we process the potatoes and chop them into chips using a special grater knife and immediately add salt. In the absence of such a device, you can use a regular grater with a large nozzle.

Armed with foil

Potato casserole with minced meat in the oven will not stick to the bottom of the dish during cooking if the bottom of the pan is covered with food foil. Grease a layer of foil with sunflower oil. We will divide the potato chips, just like in the first recipe, into two equal parts. We put half of it in then make a layer of minced meat. The third layer will again be potatoes. Now grate the cheese on a coarse grater and cover the entire surface of the second potato layer with it. If the amount of cheese indicated in the recipe is not enough, feel free to increase the proportion.

The oven should also already be preheated. Considering that the dish contains raw ingredients, we increase the total baking time to 50 minutes. This time is enough for both the minced meat and the potatoes to cook completely. The cheese on top of the dish forms a golden brown crust, and the smell will spread invitingly throughout the apartment. While the dish is being prepared, the hostess can safely do some other important things.

We believe that this dish is easy to make and extremely tasty, no matter what variations it is executed in, it will not disappoint you. Bon appetit!

Step 1: prepare the onion.

First of all, preheat the oven up to 200 degrees and, using a baking brush, grease a small non-stick baking dish with two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Then, using a sharp kitchen knife, peel the onions, rinse them under running cold running water, dry them with paper kitchen towels, place them on a cutting board and chop them into thin strips, half rings thick 3–4 millimeters or cubes the size up to 5–7 millimeters.

Step 2: pickle the onions.

Next, pour the required amount of purified water and nine percent vinegar into a small bowl. Place the chopped onion into the resulting rather sharp-smelling liquid, mix everything with a tablespoon until smooth and set aside for 15 minutes so that the vegetable is marinated.

Step 3: prepare the egg-cheese mixture.

Meanwhile, place chicken eggs in a clean deep bowl, trying to do this so that the shells do not get in, and beat them with a whisk until lightly fluffy. Then add mayonnaise to them, salt to taste, ground black pepper and chop a piece of hard cheese of any brand on a medium or fine grater. The egg and cheese mixture is ready!

Step 4: prepare the minced meat.

Now put fresh assorted minced pork and beef into another deep bowl. Lightly beat it with your palms so that the meat fibers separate and become softer. Then season it to taste with salt and ground black pepper. Not forgetting that these spices have already been used before and now the main thing is not to overdo it with them.

Step 5: form a meat casserole from minced meat.

When all the ingredients are prepared, we begin to form the casserole. Place a layer of spiced minced meat on the bottom of the greased pan; it is advisable that the thickness fluctuates from 1.5 to 2 centimeters, but no more. Place the pickled onions on top of it in an artistic disarray, having first shaken off the excess vinegar liquid. Next, distribute the egg-cheese mixture onto the vegetables; it is advisable to do this with your hand dipped in water, since using a spoon is simply inconvenient; it sticks to the vegetable pieces.

Step 6: bake minced meat casserole.

Place the formed casserole in an oven preheated to the desired temperature and keep it there for 30–35 minutes. During this time, all layers will be fully prepared, and the surface of the product will be covered with a ruddy golden crust. Then we put oven mitts on our hands and move the fragrant dish onto a cutting board that was previously placed on the countertop. Using a kitchen spatula, divide the casserole into portions, place them on plates and serve as a second main course.

Step 7: Serve the minced meat casserole.

Minced meat casserole is a tasty, tender and very aromatic dish with a golden brown crust, which is served hot as a main course. After cooking it is divided for 4–6 servings, distribute them on plates, optionally decorate each with sprigs of dill, cilantro, green onions, parsley and complement them with sliced fresh vegetables, salads, marinades, pickles and, of course, bread. Enjoy delicious and easy to prepare food!
Bon appetit!

An alternative to mayonnaise is sour cream or heavy cream, and an alternative to vegetable oil is 45–50 grams creamy;

Very often, 100 milliliters of whole pasteurized milk and a tablespoon of sifted wheat flour are added to the egg-cheese mixture;

Some housewives add finely grated carrots, a couple of garlic cloves squeezed through a press, pieces of sweet salad pepper, canned peas or corn to the minced meat;

On top of a layer of pickled onions you can place mushrooms fried in a small amount of oil, for example, chanterelles, russula or ordinary champignons;

The set of spices is not important, use any that are used to season meat dishes: savory, coriander, all types of ground peppers or others;

Minced meat for casserole needs natural, fresh, without adding water or any other liquid, only clean ground meat! If you are not sure about the finished product, it is better to grind fresh pork and beef yourself to get a high-quality semi-finished product;

If you are not sure of the quality of your baking sheet and are afraid that the dish will burn, then it is better to cover it with a sheet of food-grade aluminum foil.

Potato casserole is a little mashed potatoes, an egg, a piece of butter and cheese. Potatoes are one of the most common types of food used for cooking. It is prepared with completely different fillings: minced meat, meat, chicken, fish, and various vegetables. First you need to decide whether you will make a casserole from raw or boiled potatoes. Selection of minced meat, mushrooms and potatoes

  1. Ground meat. The most popular and delicious minced pork and beef or simply pork. You can also take chicken. Delicate, delicious minced meat will be made from rabbit or nutria. In order of priority, the onions are fried first over medium heat until half cooked, and then the meat is added to it;
  2. Mushrooms. Champignons, honey mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, chanterelles or boletus mushrooms are suitable for the recipe. Frozen mushrooms should be lightly boiled before frying. Do not cut too finely so that they do not burn when frying. If a lot of liquid is released in the frying pan, then simmer a little under the lid, when all the juice is released, drain it and fry the mushrooms with butter without a lid;
  3. Potato. To make mashed potatoes soft and not bitter, the potatoes need to be boiled until completely soft. You can even allow it to be overcooked. Bitterness comes from a green coating under the skin and black rotten spots. All this should be carefully removed. A creamy and sweetish taste appears when milk and butter are added. Milk can be replaced with the water in which the potatoes were boiled, and butter with cream.

An airy, tender casserole covered with a cheese crust will not leave anyone indifferent and will instantly whet the guests’ appetite. Many housewives are not afraid to experiment, supplementing the recipe with any ingredients - mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, various spices and sauces.
