It is not by chance that we used the term “paradigm” here instead of the usual “mythology”. The fact is that the paradigm, according to the definition, by prof. A. Dugina: “In the broadest sense, this is the initial sample, the matrix, which does not appear directly, but through its manifestations, predetermining their structure (Greek paradeigma from para “over”, “above”, “through” and deigma “manifestation” “- “that which predetermines the nature of manifestation, remaining outside of manifestation”).” That is, a paradigm is a non-directly manifested, structuring reality that, while remaining unconscious, establishes “the basic, fundamental proportions of human thinking and existence.” And she does this through myth, creating the structure of language and the entire spectrum of meanings embedded in it. For myth, according to A. Losev, is the highest reality.

Thus, a name, belonging to the solar or lunar paradigm, does not simply involve its bearer in one or another mythological plot, but, based on the meanings of this plot, generates the basic attitudes of a person’s worldview, determines his motivation and actions.

Solar names

The names of the solar paradigm contain a collapsed solar myth. They are characterized by all the manifestations of the solar cult indicated above. In short, solar paradigm names have the following characteristics:
- belonging to the world of the Father (patriarchy);
- the predominance of the masculine, creative, bright, immortal principle;
- service to law, order, truth;
- solar heroism, based on strict adherence to the code of the warrior;
- obligatory initiatory overcoming of darkness.

Solar names, to a certain extent, correlate with the concept of the “diurna” regime proposed by structural sociology. At its basis, according to the idea of ​​​​J. Durand, outlined by A. Dugin, “lies the fundamental idea of ​​death as another, with the corresponding imperative to fight it, to resist it. Death and time are seen here as an enemy that must be fought. The following groups of symbols belong to this regime and to this generalizing mythos: the sword (that which divides), the scepter (an instrument of dominion), the arrow - flight, unambiguous and irreversible orientation.

In diurna mode, the hero strengthens his identity and splits external objects, fragments the object. The greater the integrity of the subject, the more nuances the hero discerns in the object and the closer he is to his goal - a meeting with the Father.

Everything related to the night is demonized here. Night is different, terrible and hostile. The regime of diurn is a regime of dualism par excellence. This dualism can manifest itself at all levels - religious, political, moral, social, cultural, everyday.”

Lunar names

The names of the lunar paradigm contain a collapsed lunar myth. Accordingly, they are characterized by all manifestations of the lunar cult. In general, the names of the lunar paradigm have the following characteristics:
- belonging to the world of the Mother (matriarchy);
- the predominance of the feminine, reproducing and absorbing, dark, cyclical principle;
- susceptibility to the influence of instincts;
- illusory;
- lunar heroism, based on the desire to gain the upper hand at any cost;
- obligatory opposition to everything diurnic and sunny.

Lunar names can be correlated with Durand's concept of the “nocturne” mode. “The whole mode of the nocturne is the mode of euphemism (euphemism in Greek for “good name”). A euphemism is calling a bad, flawed, harmful, evil, disgusting, indecent, terrible object or phenomenon something softened, diminutive, ironic, in order to psychologically remove the severity of the conflict that they carry within themselves. In the space of the nocturne, the identity of the mythological hero is blurred, split, and the outside world, on the contrary, becomes homogeneous, devoid of boundaries. The less integrity of the subject, the fewer disturbing nuances the hero discerns in the object and the more he merges with it, fulfilling his main desire - to merge with his mother.

Intermediate names

As practice shows, there is another, third group of names, the meanings of which do not fit into either of the two paradigms under consideration. They are located, as it were, between the Sun and the Moon, in a kind of “twilight zone”, and therefore can be called intermediate.

Such names correspond to pre-dawn or sunset twilight, so among them there are those in which solar characteristics predominate to one degree or another and those in which the influence of the Moon is greater. Accordingly, many nuances arise here that make the intermediate group extremely heterogeneous. A detailed description of its representatives requires additional research, so in this article we will limit ourselves to only stating the very fact of the presence of mixed or intermediate names. It is much more important now to understand the names of the solar and lunar paradigms as deeply as possible.

Mythological gender in the Solar and Lunar paradigms

For a more complete understanding of the structural characteristics of solar and lunar names, we again turn to the concept of J. Durand about two mythological modes of world perception - diurnic and nocturnal.

However, one important remark must be made here. Durant's idea, as was done above, can be correlated with the division into solar and lunar names, but with certain reservations. The solar and lunar paradigm does not correspond one hundred percent to Durand’s concept, as we know it as presented by A. Dugin. But analogies between them can help us better understand the nature of the names of the Sun and the Moon.

One of these analogies allows us to make a very important assumption that the solar paradigm and its names, as well as the Diurn regime, are associated with musculinity. We are not talking about the male sex in the physiological sense, but about masculinity as a special psychological, social, cultural type that embodies the idea of ​​the solar principle. The lunar cult, as well as the nocturne regime, forms a matriarchal structure, where the feminine-maternal type predominates, which J. Durand calls feminoid.

These images are not directly related to real anatomy. Musculinity and femininity are associated with a special kind of gender. This is a mythological or psychological gender. So the usual everyday lexical division into “male” and “female” names is invalid here. Only the archetypal scenario, presented in the form of a figurative-alphabetic name cipher, has meaning. Therefore, the owner of a “male” (in the usual sense) name will not necessarily be a representative of the solar paradigm, but a “female” lunar one. Physiological sex does not determine membership in the Solar or Lunar cult, and musculinoid or feminoid is not a physiological characteristic. This is an indicator of the presence of either solar or lunar principles in the name.

Thus, solar (paternal, diurnic, muscularoid) characteristics can also carry female names, and lunar (maternal, nocturnic, feminoid) characteristics can carry masculine names. In this regard, four types of subjects of nominal mythological paradigms can be distinguished:

This division, by the way, is quite justified from the point of view of myth. In the cultural tradition of many peoples, the Sun can act as a female character, and the Moon as a male character. At the same time, the Solar Goddess has nothing in common with the Moon Goddess and bears muscular features, while the Moon God differs from the Sun God and has feminine features.

The situation is exactly the same with names inscribed in one or another mythological paradigm. Despite the common “lexical gender”, the names of solar and lunar husbands and virgins will differ structurally, in character, just like the Sun and Moon. The lunar husband, unlike the solar one, is feminine, and the solar maiden, unlike the lunar one, is muscular. But this does not mean, of course, that the lunar husband is necessarily effeminate, and the solar maiden is the notorious “man in a skirt.” Not at all. This only means that the lunar husband bears the characteristics of the Mother’s world and exists in nocturne mode, while the solar maiden is endowed with a solar principle and is in the territory of the Father, in diurne mode.

The proposed typology not only corresponds to mythological subjects, but is based on the very nature of the Name, as a figurative-literal code. In addition, it allows us to better relate the ideas of the solar-lunar paradigm and structural sociology. Thus, in the interpretation of the latter by A. Dugin, masculine and feminine cannot enter into harmonious fruitful relationships, since they exist in diametrically opposed modes. However, this becomes possible if we take into account that in the solar territory (according to Durand, purely masculine), women with solar names (solar maidens) can exist, and in the lunar (according to Durand, purely feminine) there can be men with lunar names (lunar men). In this case, our typology, based on knowledge of the mythological field and the law of the existence of two paradigms, gives us the key to the most important thing - relationships.

Relationship between Solar and Lunar names

The relationships between the subjects around us who bear names and those meanings that are realized in each specific name determine our reality. And we are surrounded, as we already know, for the most part by either solar or lunar names. In this regard, the relationship between representatives of the solar and lunar paradigms becomes of great importance.

The peculiarities of the relationship between the Sun and the Moon are again clearly illustrated by myth. In traditional cultures of different peoples, they can act as a husband and wife, brother and sister, etc. But in all its diversity, the main plot is clearly visible, which consists of the confrontation between two luminaries. Often, the lunar deity seeks to absorb the solar deity.

This plot is most colorfully revealed in the image of a siren (compare with the Greek lunar goddess Selene) - a beautiful and alluring woman who lures the traveler into her arms, in which he loses his will and reason. In the same way, the Zoroastrian moon-faced Mach, with her songs, makes the Sun sink into the depths of the ocean, after which night comes. The Sun, symbolizing the mind, falling into the power of the unconscious, symbolized by the Moon, becomes unable to maintain order in the world for some time. The same thing happens when the Moon eclipses the Sun. The world plunges into darkness for a time and demons triumph. All this is just an interpretation of the archetypal myth common to all peoples about the moon goddess luring the sun god into her arms.

Exactly the same thing happens in the lives of real people. Thus, in the practice of the “Name Studio” there was a case when a woman, whose family name (surname) was inscribed in the solar paradigm, married a man with a lunar family name. After marriage, extremely negative changes began in her life. Illness, career destruction, etc. Moreover, after the woman began having epileptic seizures (not caused by heredity), her husband left her. But even after the divorce, the situation only worsened. What happened? From the point of view of the myth, the following happened. The Sun (representative of the solar Genus) marries the Moon (representative of the lunar Genus). What we have before us is nothing more than a myth about an eclipse of the Sun setting behind the Moon and losing its power. Moreover, in this case, this plot was realized literally - the woman, as they say, “threw into fits.” Naturally, there could only be one way out of this situation - the return of the previous sunny surname.

This example most clearly illustrates how myth structures our reality. However, it does not follow from it that representatives of the Solar and Lunar paradigms cannot get along at all. This is not so, as evidenced by the corpus of myths where the Sun and Moon are spouses. But the fact is that even in this status they cannot be together all the time. Their marriage is identified with the full moon, the period when the moon fully reflects the sunlight. Even “great love” is unable to change this order. This is told in the beautiful legend of Psyche and Eros, where the Moon (Psyche) briefly enjoys the company of her divine lover (Eros). Under the influence of her own nature (in myth, these are her treacherous sisters), she loses him and finds him in heaven only after she goes through difficult trials (passes through the phases of a flawed and dark moon). And this cycle will be repeated again and again, since the Sun and Moon are a biner, the stability of which requires a third element.

Often, spouses whose names belong to different paradigms, experiencing serious problems, solve them by having children. So, if the name of the spouse belongs to the solar paradigm, and the wife to the lunar one, then the birth of a son may be a way out for preserving such a family. In this case, the lunar maiden, as it were, confirms her readiness to continue the lineage of her solar husband, renounces competition, and therefore ceases to be unconsciously perceived as an enemy. True, at the same time, she sacrifices her lunar nature, which is interested in the appearance of her daughter. Therefore, the best option would be to have a second child - a girl. Then the lunar maiden herself will not feel inferior. But if a girl is born first, then the sunny husband (who is only interested in sons) will perceive this as evidence of an attempt on the Law, and the relationship of such a couple may be jeopardized.

The relationship between the Sun and the Moon is always a search for compromise. Durand's concept, according to which diurn and nocturne are irreducible concepts, works here one hundred percent. The solar husband and the lunar maiden or the solar maiden and the lunar husband are completely different in nature, and therefore their relationship is always problematic. They either meet for a while and then go their separate ways, or one of them must sacrifice themselves. As a rule, the solar husband is not capable of this, just like the lunar maiden. The solar husband cannot realize himself at night, just as the lunar maiden is not able to realize himself during the day. It's out of their nature. But lunar men, being feminine, are quite easily inferior to solar maidens. That’s why, by the way, they are interested in having girls. Moreover, as a rule, they really want this, since the appearance of daughters corresponds to their lunar principle. On the contrary, the birth of a son by a solar maiden becomes a threat to him.

The most harmonious, of course, is the relationship between co-natural names: solar husband - solar maiden or lunar husband - lunar maiden. They are, as they say, most suitable for each other, so their meeting is not due to the need for a sacrifice or the appearance of a third participant - a hostage to the confrontation - capable of balancing the irreconcilable parties.

The mother-in-law comes to her home, hangs out her towels, plants and digs up trees at her own discretion, brings some fragrant fertilizers, in general everything is “just the way I like it.” You can’t leave a child with her, there’s no trust, because she’s “wonderful” - she can leave a five-year-old child alone at home while she goes off on business, I haven’t heard about hygiene: her hands and nails are always black, she doesn’t wash her hands after using the toilet, all the dishes are done after it in greasy and sticky spots. This is so disgusting girls!

According to the first one, I tried to build a respectful relationship: I invited her into the house, set the table, gave me expensive wine, but in the conversation I heard that the cutlets were a bit dry and that I was still a bitch!
